 Principal:  Karen Woodford

It is with great pride that I welcome you to the Staunton River Middle School site, community, and school.  It is our goal as a learning community to bring Staunton River to the height of academic excellence.  Our focus is on the individual student’s learning and success.

With that goal in mind, we eagerly continue our journey into personalized learning.  This year we move into Year 2 of our Active Learning Personalized pilots.  Several 8th graders will focus on learning by varying the pace of instruction and by working with a team approach in learning.  All of our math students will  be allowed choice in their math classes.  Choice will involve how students learn the material and types of activities to show mastery of material.

The other exciting opportunity coming this school year is one to one device deployment for all 7th and 8th grade students.  Each of the students in these grades will be issued their own Google Chromebook for school and home use.  This is challenging and exciting for all staff members as we learn to teach students in a technology filled world.  Our goals are to teach them responsibility, internet safety, and digital citizenship.

As a proud Staunton River High School graduate and community member, it is my goal to continue in the legacy of community spirit, excellence, and Eagle Pride!

Assistant Principal:  Justin Tucker

I am extremely excited to begin serving as the Assistant Principal of Staunton River Middle School for the 2016-17 school year! I have been a proud member of the Golden Eagle community since 2012 when I joined Staunton River High School as a Social Studies Teacher, and later, the Instructional Facilitator/Lead Teacher. I currently reside in Forest, VA with my wife, Kristi, who is a Special Education Teacher at Staunton River High School.

Along with the committed faculty and staff of SRMS, my highest priority this year is to join with you in making our school a place where all students will succeed. I look forward to building positive relationships with students, and inspiring them to develop the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful here, in high school, and beyond.

I wish all of our students a wonderful time of learning and growth this year, and I look forward to with everyone in the SRMS family!
