Mrs. Geyer is entering her 23rd year in education. During this time, Mrs. Geyer has served as the principal of Staunton River Middle School (2021-present), Staunton River High assistant principal (2022-2023), and Staunton River Middle School assistant principal (2018-2020). She has been a part of the BCPS team since 2015 when she served as a history teacher at Bedford Middle School.

Mrs. Geyer began her teaching career with Hanover County Public Schools in 2002 where she served in various capacities including general education, special education and athletics at Bell Creek Middle School. Mrs. Geyer resides in Bedford with her family. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, and baking!

Mrs. Geyer earned a Bachelor’s degree (2002) in Early Childhood Development from Lynchburg College, a Master’s degree (2008) in Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Lynchburg (2018). Mrs. Geyer is excited to serve Staunton River Middle School as an educator, administrator, and community member.

Mr. Jacob Rivenbark is entering his 8th year in education and is excited to serve as the Assistant Principal of Staunton River Middle School. He began his teaching career in 2018 with Galax City Public Schools, where he taught math at both the middle and high school levels. He also served as a football and track coach. From 2021-2025, Mr. Rivenbark was a math teacher at Read Mountain Middle School in Botetourt County. During his time there, he taught multiple grade levels, served on the school leadership team, was the 8th grade team leader and Math Department Chair, and coordinated the school’s math tutoring program. He also continued coaching football and track.

Mr. Rivenbark earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Education from Emory & Henry College in 2018 and his Master’s degree in Administration & Supervision (PreK–12) from Liberty University in 2024.

Mr. Rivenbark and his wife, Hannah, have lived in Bedford County since 2022. They enjoy spending time outdoors with their son, Daniel, and their golden retriever, Tucker. As a family, they enjoy going for walks and hikes, spending time with friends and family, and making beach trips in the summer. Mr. Rivenbark prioritizes building strong relationships with students, staff, and families and is excited to become a member of the Staunton River community.

 Mrs. Kathy Brisentine has been an educator for 19 years.  She began her teaching career in Prince Edward County where she taught US History I to 6th-graders.  In 2012, she came to Bedford County and has served in multiple schools and roles.  Mrs. Brisentine was a 7th grade English and Civics teacher at Forest Middle School, an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher for Jefferson Forest High School and the division, and finally the Lead Teacher for Offsite Learning supporting all educators in Bedford County Public Schools. Mrs. Brisentine is excited to see how she can support Staunton River Middle School and the community as an Assistant Principal

Mrs. Brisentine earned her Bachelor's degree (2008) in Liberal Studies for Elementary and Middle School Education from Longwood University, her Master's degree (2017) in History from Lynchburg College, and her Administration and Supervision Endorsement (2021) from Longwood University.  She lives in Forest, VA with her husband and three kids.  She enjoys many crafting activities and spending time with family and friends.
